YATE TOWN FC SUPPORTERS CLUB – BALLOON RACE
The Supporters Club Balloon Race that started on 15th September was won by 11 year old Emily Theobald from Brimsham Park, whose balloon was found in Ravenel in France, which is about 70 kilometres North of Paris! The photo above shows Emily being presented with her winner’s cheque for £50 before the match against Hitchin Town on 6th October.
A total of 22 balloons were found and returned, of which two reached France. Most of them travelled towards the South and South East, apart from one that defied the prevailing wind and was found in Cheltenham!
A letter of thanks has been sent to the finder, together with 10 Euros, which was kindly donated by Mark Carter, the Supporters Club Acting Chairman.
The event was a great success, and a big thank you to the people who helped with the sales, both in the Town Centre in the morning and at the ground before the match. We managed to sell over 200 of the 250 balloons before we got to the ground, so apologies to those of you who arrived late and wanted to buy one when we had run out. Our profit on the event was £200, which is a great start in what was the first event that the Supporters Club has run.
